American Red Cross Month- March 18th

I don't know about you, but to me, March sure is flying by! That means your time to make a difference this year during National American Red Cross Month is running out! Have you done your part yet?

Do you know your blood type? Well, if you don't, I mentioned in a previous post that if you donated blood, the Red Cross would test it to determine your type and you would be sent a donor card in the mail that tells you which blood type you are! I'm A Positive, but did you know that the universal blood donor is type O Negative blood? Since it is the universal donor, it is the blood type in the highest demand. O Negative blood is used in emergency situations before the patient's own blood type is known and it is used if a newborn baby is in need of a blood transfusion. I'm sure now you can see why there is such a great need for it. Anyone can use it!

Regardless of whether your blood type is O Negative or not, you should still make a blood donation. Everyone who donates is a hero despite what their type may be! Here are tomorrow's (March 19th) blood drives in South Carolina:*
USC College of Engineering- Columbia (USC Campus, Swearingen Building)
Chester Community YMCA- Chester
*All dates and locations were obtained via the official American Red Cross Website.
